12th November 2008 Operation Godwit Team Catch Godwits in Portugal! We just got news this evening that Pete Potts and the Operation Godwit Team, who have been on the Tagus Estuary in Lisbon, Portugal since Monday. Today they caught 28 Black-tailed Godwits using canon nets and 65 Godwits yesterday. This brings the total number of godwits caught and colour ringed by the team in Portugal to 99 caught over the last two winters during four visits. That means a lot more colour ringed birds to look out for this winter. Well done to Pete and all the team. Hope fully we will have a full report with some photos on his return. |
