Bird ringing demonstration at Cuskinny Nature Reserve

After studying the godwits all year today the pupils at Scoil Iosaef Naofa in Cobh went to nearby Cuskinny Marsh Nature Reserve to find out what is involved in ringing birds (see photos below). Bird ringing expert Pat Smiddy was on hand to show the pupils what you had to do to catch a bird for ringing. Pat used a mist net to catch some Blue Tits in woodland habitat on the reserve. It was a very successful outing. We all had a great morning and learnt a lot. Thanks to Pat and Peter.
